Experiment Safety Guidelines
All experimenters onsite must read and abide by the rules in your ESAF. These can be found in the Beamline and APS ESRB Comments sections of the Experiment Hazard Control Plan Report, which will be posted on the experimental hutch door. Your ESAF must be posted by the floor coordinator before you are permitted to start any work at APS.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Rules specified in any SOPs for your experiment must also be followed.
Stop Work Policy
If at any time you encounter a potentially hazardous situation, or if you're not comfortable performing a task, stop what you're doing and ask a member of the staff for assistance.
Additionally, if you see someone else doing something that is potentially unsafe to them, or to you, or others, it is your right and your obligation to speak up, and ask them to stop. If you're not comfortable speaking to them directly, find a staff member for assistance, or dial 911. |
Sector 20 and 9-BM operations are supported by the US Department of Energy and the Canadian Light Source. | |
